Always the first star that I find…
August 14th, 2010 Comments 2
Meteor showers last night. The moon set early, so the conditions were perfect to see many shooting stars, supposedly up to 80 an hour. We drove up to the Laguna Mountains in Pine Valley to get away from the light pollution. What we saw was just literally out of this world. The shooting stars were awesome, but the sky itself just blew me away. I had never seen a sky like that and I didn’t think it was possible with bare eyes. And the stars were twinkling, big time! I’m still amazed.
These are my favorite photos from last night.
Made in Germany

Erin dug out this very cool old camera the other day. Since she had no use for it she gave it to me. Yay!
It’s a Ihagee Exa. Never heard of the brand, but apparently it was made in Germany. It turned out it must be from the late 30s or early 40s, wow! The lens is a 50mm/2.8. It took us a while to figure out how to work it, but it seems to function fine. The view finder has been giving me headaches though, since it’s really hard to see through and everything is mirror-inverted.
Anyway, I put some expired slide film in it, so let’s see what it does with it. I’m excited! Film is just so exciting!

Ok, this is the first time it happened to me that I totally forgot about pictures I took. Not only did I forget that I took them, I totally forgot to even look at them after I copied them to my computer. So as I was going through my photos to see what I can delete to make room on the hard drive, I found this shot among others from a trip to Venice Beach a couple weeks ago. I guess I got distracted by all the Holga shots and accidents…

Sometimes I wish I could go back to being a kid and not having to worry about a thing. Wait, did we really not worry about a thing when we were kids or was it just different things we worried about? Things that now seem like things you wouldn’t worry about?
Anyway, this picture would fit in very well with the memories I have in my mind of me and my big brother when we were kids… although our hair looked different for sure!
